Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Went to info sessions for Warren and specific major and minors. Very helpful in regards to core requirements in the college, prerequisites for the major, and minor course requirements.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent

Did not encounter one bad egg student. Everyone was really kind and helpful. People generally seemed relaxed and in a good mood, but maybe because it was Saturday.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

I felt that there were a few bad eggs who were also not easy to approach.

Appearance of Campus:
5 - Excellent

Really impressed by the campus. Very spacious. Some libraries and building are older and some are newer, and it is easy to tell which ones are.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
Very clean, especially near the newer facilities like The Village and ERC. Well kept.

Dormitories:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Went to see The Village at Torrey Pines. Very much preferred the layout of the East wing than the West wing. East is newer and less cramped. Nearby convenience store was really nice as well.

Security/Safety:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Did not actually see as much security staff as I thought I would. There is not much I can say about it other than they had info tables for campus safety, so looks like they consider safety important.

Overall Campus Impression:

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
3 - Good
3 - Good
Having to walk down the campus hill to get to the areas off campus seems a little tedious and time consuming. I don't think people go off campus often unless they have a car. Has a small city vib

City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
Seems like there is a lot to see and do in the city, but everything is rather far and hard to reach without a car or access to public transportation.

Campus Visit Notes for University of California, San Diego

Visit Description:

Highly recommend attending on an organized day for admitted students. They supply with all the information you need on those days. There are tours of individual colleges, entire campus, library tours, lab tours, and even campus housing. Major and minor information panels, and panels on residential college information. Tables for all academic departments, student organizations, and student services.
Could feel from faculty and staff that there is a certain high expectation from students, and students are serious about their education. Not much craziness at all. People are very mature here.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

The Sheraton in town is only a block away from campus and it's just like a resort.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Eat in any of the dining halls as they are open for everyone to buy food. Food was ok, nothing special.

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking is not hard to find, but it can cost some. Free parking on weekends. Shuttle services aplenty, with access to public transportation that goes to downtown SD (all free for students).
