About Michigan Tech

Michigan Technological University is a public research university founded in 1885 in Houghton, Michigan, and is home to more than 7,000 students from 55 countries around the world. Michigan’s flagship technological university offers more than 120 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science and technology, engineering, computing, forestry, business and economics, health professions, humanities, mathematics, social sciences, and the arts.

Consistently ranked among the best universities in the country for return on investment, Michigan Tech has a five-year average undergraduate job placement rate of 93 percent and median early career pay of $71,100. In addition, more than 400 employers attend Michigan Tech's Career Fairs each year to recruit students for co-ops, internships, and full-time jobs.

The rural campus is situated just miles from Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, offering year-round opportunities for outdoor adventure. At no additional cost, students have access to a number of benefits through the Experience Tech initiative, including access to the University-owned Mont Ripley ski and snowboard area, the Michigan Tech Trails and Recreational Forest, the Gates Tennis Center, the Portage Lake Golf Course, varsity athletic events (including NCAA men's ice hockey), intramural sports, the Outdoor Adventure Program, visual and performing arts events, health and well-being programming, and more. There are more than 240 student organizations on campus, ranging from social and academic organizations to club sports and service opportunities. Annual traditions such as Winter Carnival, Parade of Nations, broomball, and cardboard boat racing are just a few of the ways students (and alumni) embody their Husky spirit throughout the academic year.

There is no fee to apply to Michigan Tech as an undergraduate student, and test scores are optional for domestic students. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Merit scholarships and financial aid are available, with more than 90% of students receiving aid.
