There's Still Time To Apply to These June 2021 Scholarships

Applying to scholarships might not be the first thing on your mind this time of year, but June can actually be a great time to look for more money for school. Many students are focused on finishing school, starting summer jobs, or celebrating graduation, so the competition may not be as fierce. Most of these scholarships have easy or fun applications, and one only requires you to post a picture of your best friend and a message about why they're awesome. Which, let's be honest, you may have done even if it didn't enter you to win $1000.

1. Dr. Asha Cooper Scholarship

Deadline: June 9th, 2021

Who is eligible: Women with financial need who are enrolled or accepted in an accredited college, university, or trade school

Award: One $2000 award, two $1000 awards, and two for $5000 awards

The She Can Foundation is offering a scholarship in honor of Dr. Asha Laverne Cooper, who passed away in 2017. The scholarship aims to lift up young women, allowing more to reach their potential. Each applicant is required to submit a 2-5-minute video responding to the following question: How would being awarded the Dr. Asha Cooper Scholarship allow you to reach your highest potential, and what makes you deserving of the award?

2. Stonewall Foundation’s Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship

Deadline: June 11th, 2021

Who is eligible: Women who identify as lesbians and plan to attend a U.S. college or university in 2021

Award: Several awards, ranging from $1500 to $1000

Application Difficulty: Medium

Winner chosen: Unknown

Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker created this scholarship to encourage and support lesbian women in their pursuit of higher education. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement, community service and leadership, and commitment to impacting LGBTQ issues.

3. Extra Space Storage’s “There’s Space for Everyone” Scholarship

Deadline: June 15th, 2021

Who is eligible: Incoming and current undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university during the fall 2021 semester are eligible to apply. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and at least 16 years old.

Award: Four $2500 scholarships

Extra Space Storage believes in a future where all people have equal access to education, and they believe the current generation of students can help us get there. They are offering the “There’s Space for Everyone” scholarship to four students who share their commitment to creating a more equitable future. Applicants must submit a short 500 word essay in response to the prompt: How will you utilize your education and experiences to make your community a more equal, inclusive place for everyone?

4. 10th Annual Ocean Awareness Contest

Deadline: June 14th

Who is eligible: Students aged 11-18 from around the world.

Award: Multiple awards, ranging from $50 to $1500.

The theme for this year’s Ocean Awareness contest is “Water Rising.” Students are asked to submit a creative work that falls into one of the following categories: Visual Art, Creative Writing, Film, Interactive & Multimedia, Performing Arts: Music & Dance, Poetry & Spoken Word. The submissions should be in response to one of five prompts that address the theme. Twenty awards of $750 will be awarded to applicants who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, or Latina/o/e. 5. DoSomething’s “What’s Not Pictured” Scholarship

Deadline: June 14th

Who is eligible: Anyone under 26 years old

Award: Two awards of $1000

Application Difficulty: Easy

Do something nice to boost a friend’s self-esteem, by re-posting one of your friend’s photos and sharing their positive qualities, and be entered to win one of two $1000 awards from the youth non-profit DoSomething.org.

6. National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) COVID-19 Impact Scholarship

Deadline: June 15th

Who is eligible: Students with learning and attention issues whose college and life plans have been significantly impacted by COVID-19.

Award: $1500 for 12 students

Application Difficulty: Medium, interview required for finalists

Winner chosen: Unknown

The National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) recognizes that students with learning and attention challenges maybe have found COVID-19 particularly disruptive to their academic and life plans. The COVID-19 impact scholarship will award 12 students who experienced significant disruption with $1500 scholarships. Significant disruption as a result of COVID-19 is defined as a change of enrollment, financial aid/status, or credit load that impacts your financial aid and/or expected completion date or the loss of an internship or career opportunity.

7.3Lau “Everything” Scholarship

Deadline: June 20th, 2021

Who is eligible: High school or undergraduate student with big dreams and a passion for life and expressing themselves.

Award: One award of $14,770

Application Difficulty: Medium, for musicians, dancers, and artists

Winner announced: June 30th

In honor of his new song “Everything,” well-known DJ and electronic music producer, 3Lau (pronounced Blau) is partnering with Bold.org to offer a scholarship. Applicants must submit a short answer to the question “what is your everything,” plus link to an original song, dance, or art piece that represents your everything

8.Delete Cyberbullying Scholarship

Deadline: June 30th, 2021

Who is eligible: High school (9th to 12th grade) or college students who are attending or planning to enter an accredited U.S. college or university.

Award: $1000

Application Difficulty: Easy

Winner chosen: July 30th, 2021

EndCyberbully.net is offering $1000 to a student who is committed to their mission of deleting cyberbullying. Current high school or college students must submit a short 500 word essay in response to either of the following questions:

"Why is it important to work to delete cyberbullying?"

"How has cyberbullying personally affected you?"

9.JuJu Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: June 30th, 2021

Who is eligible: Current high school and undergraduate students studying in the US, who are facing financial challenges in paying for their education

Award: $5000 for four students

Application Difficulty: Easy

Winner chosen: July 15th

In 2019, Pittsburgh Steelers and former University of Southern California WR JuJu Smith-Schuster created The JuJu Foundation to lift the spirits of those in need. The JuJu Foundation is partnering with Bold.org to offer four $5000 scholarships to current students who are face hurdles paying for school. Applicants must submit a brief essay (up to 500 words) in response to the question: What is your greatest inspiration in life? What drives you?

10.AEL Collegiate Essay Competition

Deadline: June 30th, 2021

Who is eligible: U.S. citizens who are currently undergraduate college or university students at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university. Incoming first-year students and college students who graduated the year of the competition (i.e., January-June 2021 for the 2021 essay competition) are also eligible.

Award: Three awards, for $2500, $1500, and $1000 each

Pepperdine Libraries is partnering with Amercanism Educational Leaders (AEL) for scholarship. Applicants must submit a 1500-2000 word essay, complete with citations, in response to the following: There has been much in the news recently on the rising cost of American higher education. Please share your views on the value of a liberal arts degree and how it benefits society.
